Justin Nelson's Bio

Justin Nelson is a professional power skating coach, and he has worked with players from the mite to professional level. When teaching power skating he demonstrates how agility, balance, power, and stride each play an important role in being a strong skater. Justin left high school in his hometown of Davenport, Iowa to play junior hockey in leagues such as The MNJHL, The IJHL, The EJHL,  and in 2004 attended training camp for the Quad City Mallards.

In addition to hockey, Justin holds an associate degree in Criminal Justice. While attaining this degree, Justin also completed an internship with The Davenport Police Department. After graduating he became the hockey director in Cedar Rapids, where he spent two years. After two years in Cedar Rapids he took an opportunity to be the hockey director in the Quad Cities, where he looks forward to sharing his passion for the game with the entire Quad Cities hockey community.

Justin offers private lessons for individuals focusing on their strengths and correcting their weaknesses. He works with players on a one on one basis to develop their skills and help them succeed to the next level. During the off season, Justin spends his time coaching and instructing AAA and junior players to prepare them for the junior or college level.

Justin is now the on-ice coordinator for the OneGoal program that is currently taking place at the Quad City Sports Center. The program has seen over 400 kids from age 3 - 8 who are just beginning to learn the game of hockey. These players are also participating in a new OneGoal program which is OneGoal Cross. This program is where players that have been involved in the One Goal Program for two or more sessions participate in a game like atmosphere of 3 on 3. The return rate of the kids joining the QCHA House League or other programs is at about 75%. For more information on this program please visit www.qconegoalhockey.com.
